HOUSTON, TX — May 8, 2025 — Yellowstone Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Mr. Bryce Moore as the new principal of its upper school, serving students in grades 6–12. A seasoned educator and native of Houston’s historic Third Ward, Mr. Moore brings deep roots in the local community and a proven track record of transformational school leadership. He will officially join the Yellowstone Schools team in July 2025.
Mr. Moore’s career in education began at KIPP Polaris, an all-boys public charter school in Northeast Houston. Since then, he has served as a founding teacher and later as a school leader at multiple campuses across the city, including North Forest Secondary and Southside Secondary. At both schools, Mr. Moore led efforts that dramatically improved academic outcomes, student culture, and teacher retention.

“Bryce Moore is not only an accomplished educator—he’s someone who understands our community because it’s his own,” said Dr. James Mosley, Superintendent of Yellowstone Schools. “He was raised just blocks from our campus and brings both lived experience and visionary leadership to this role. We are thrilled to welcome him to the Yellowstone family.”
Under Mr. Moore’s leadership at Southside Secondary, the school achieved the highest academic growth of any secondary campus in the region, cut suspension rates in half, and consistently received high marks in staff satisfaction. His appointment comes at a pivotal time as Yellowstone expands its Upper School program and deepens its long-term investment in middle and high school education.
“I’m honored to return home and serve the community that raised me,” said Mr. Moore. “This work is deeply personal, and I believe every student in Third Ward deserves access to a high-quality education that opens doors to a bright future. I’m excited to build on Yellowstone’s strong foundation and help lead our upper school into its next chapter.”
Mr. Moore’s leadership marks an exciting new era for Yellowstone's upper school, which continues to grow in enrollment, academic performance, and opportunities for students.

Founded in 2001 and rooted in the Christian faith, Yellowstone Schools collectively educates more than 600 children in Pre-K through 11th grade and will grow a grade each year to serve 12th grade by 2026. Yellowstone partners with students and families—regardless of financial means—to provide a life-changing education, develop a strong moral foundation, and prepare scholars for life beyond high school. The K12 campus is located in the Third Ward, one of Houston's oldest historically Black neighborhoods.
Most students served live in communities without access to strong educational opportunities. With an average class size of 17, our students experience a rich academic and co-curricular model while receiving bus transportation, two meals a day, and access to a comprehensive student support program.
