Yellowstone Academy is a private school providing education from Pre-K3 to 5th grade. It is governed by a nonprofit public charity and the private school is faith-based. Yellowstone College Prep (YCP) is a public charter school dedicated to building leaders from 6th to 8th grade. YCP will grow to serve 9th-12th grade students by adding a grade level each year. YCP is governed by a public school board that is independent and accountable to the State and public. YCP is not faith based, and as a public school, complies with applicable federal and state laws. While the two schools share a facility, they are separate educational programs that work together and with numerous other community organizations to serve the Third Ward and children of Houston.

Yellowstone College Prep is committed to equal treatment for all people. YCP does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.

Yellowstone Schools educate nearly 500 majority Black children. Located in Houston’s historic Third Ward, Yellowstone is committed to partnering with students and families, regardless of financial means, to provide an excellent education, to develop faith and character, and to prepare scholars for life beyond high school. At Yellowstone, we inspire, empower, and invest in students to achieve their highest potential and fulfill their intended purpose.
