WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I APPLY?

PreK through 5th Grade

  1. One of our staff members will reach out to schedule a parent interview and student test. All applicants must be tested to be considered for admission.
  2. Once you have completed your testing requirements, our admissions committee will review your application file and make a final decision.
  3. If your student is offered admission, our registrars will walk you through the enrollment process. See below for a list of required enrollment documents.

6th through 9th Grade

Please note: Applicants for 6th through 9th grade must live within the boundaries of Houston ISD, Pasadena ISD, or Galena Park ISD.

  1. If you apply before our lottery date, your application will be entered into the lottery. Through a random lottery process, applications will be selected to fill available seats. Applications which are not selected through the lottery process will be placed on our waiting list.
  2. If you apply after our lottery date, your student will be offered admission if a seat is still available in their grade level. Otherwise, they will be placed on our waiting list.

Yellowstone Academy is a private school providing education from Pre-K3 to 5th grade. It is governed by a nonprofit public charity and the private school is faith-based. Yellowstone College Prep (YCP) is a public charter school dedicated to building leaders from 6th to 8th grade. YCP will grow to serve 9th-12th grade students by adding a grade level each year. YCP is governed by a public school board that is independent and accountable to the State and public. YCP is not faith based, and as a public school, complies with applicable federal and state laws. While the two schools share a facility, they are separate educational programs that work together and with numerous other community organizations to serve the Third Ward and children of Houston.

YCP does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, genetic information, or veteran status.
